Dr. Joseph Castelli, PT, DPT, COMT, CKTP, CEAS, C.Ped, CIDN Owner
S.P.O.R.T. Physiotherapy and Wellness founder Dr. Joseph Castelli has been offering orthopedic and sports physical therapy services to New York City's metro region for more than 15 years.
His patient ranges include a wide variety of active New Yorkers, including professional, collegiate and high school athletes, dancers, and law enforcement officers. He treats kids too.
He received his first Physical Therapy degree from the State University of New York at Stony Brook in 1998. He went on to attend the University of Colorado, Denver, School of Medicine, where he graduated summa cum laude and was awarded his Clinical Doctoral degree in Physical Therapy (DPT) in 2011.
Dr. Castelli received an advanced certification in Manual Therapy with the Evidence in Motion Institute of Health Professions (EIM) specializing in orthopedic manual therapy. He is also a Maitland and Mulligan Concept trained Manual Therapist.
During his time in New York City, he has also worked closely with surgical and non-surgical orthopedic specialists from the Hospital for Special Surgery, Lenox Hill, Mt. Sinai, Beth Israel, St. Luke's and NYU on a variety of cases that include but are not limited to rotator cuff, labral injuries, adult joint replacement, fractures and other musculoskeletal disorders.
Additionally, for the past 15 years, Dr. Castelli is skilled in the identification of occupational risk factors that contribute to work-related musculoskeletal disorders and has successfully provided practical ergonomic intervention to control risk and exposure; workstation and return to work job/ergonomic accommodations for injured and disabled persons.
In today's ever-changing healthcare industry, Dr. Castelli's motivation for success in his practice is the application of the best evidence-based approaches to physical therapy patient care combined with his vast clinical experiences that include patient preferences to provide the most appropriate individualized care possible for his patients.
When Dr. Castelli is not working, he is an avid sports enthusiast and continues to play competitive fast pitch softball, golf, cycling and powerlifting.
